Teaching At (Corporate) events – 2025

THE DESIGN TRUST TEACHING AT CORPORATE EVENTS

ONLINE workshop: ‘TEACHING AT (CORPORATE) EVENTS’ – Thu 26 June 10am – 12.30pm (UK time)

You’re confident teaching creative workshops in your studio or at venues, but how do you translate that into a 15-min drop-in at a craft fair, a live demonstration in a museum, a crafty 50th birthday party for friends & family, or a team-building session for 40 employees at a conference?

Have you been invited to share your skills at events or are you curious about teaching at (corporate) events but you’re not sure how to go about it?

We could not find any training around this increasingly popular topic, so we decided to create this short online workshop for experienced creative teachers who want to expand their creative workshop practice into the exciting (but often unpredictable and sometimes chaotic!) world of event-based teaching – including demonstrations, drop-in sessions, talks, panel discussions, museum workshops, private parties and more.

Whether you’ve been asked to teach at a gallery late-night, host a creative session at a wedding or hen party, a demo at a cultural event, or you’re keen to expand your income by pitching to corporate clients, you’ll leave this workshop with clarity, practical tools, and the confidence to say ‘yes’ on your terms.

We’ll explore how teaching at corporate events is different from traditional, bookable workshops; how to plan and deliver memorable creative sessions in much shorter timeframes and changeable environments; how to get asked or booked for events; how to charge confidently for your time and expertise; and have all the professional paperwork in place.

This workshop will give you all the practicalities to consider, and also save you a lot of time by giving you loads of examples of what and how to ‘teach’, plus handy downloads such as pitch emails and proposal templates, a profitable-fee calculator, and a professional event checklist so you are fully prepared.

Created and taught by Patricia van den Akker, the Director of The Design Trust and author of the book Teaching Creative Workshops in Person & Online.

Want the book too? Choose the upgrade below to get Patricia’s book with this practical workshop for the special price of £25,- (incl. p&p – regular RRP £30,- sorry UK addresses only)

EARLY BIRD offer: If you sign up for this new workshop by Thu 19 June you will get Patricia’s specially created A2 brainstorming map to plan your event, in person and online (worth £15,- and only available when booking training – one per person. See details below)

Can’t make it live? No problem! Every participant will get access to the recording, presentation and the additional resources in a private course hub for 5 months until 30 November 2025, where you can post questions at any time, download the resources and watch the recording when it suits you.

Patricia van den Akker

Creative business adviser, trainer & coach and director of The Design Trust

I have been teaching professional development workshops and courses in person for over 20 years, and since 2011 I have run 100’s of individual sessions, workshops and courses online.

As the author of Teaching Creative Workshops in Person and Online I interviewed over 70 creatives who teach, and I became aware how creative teaching can be! As we had limited space in the book I decided to create this specialist workshop on Teaching at (Corporate) Events, as a fun, creative and profile-raising-or-money-making alternative to teaching workshops and courses.

FAQ: Got any further questions?

click the arrow to get your answers

  • How much time will this workshop take?

This online workshop is 2.5 hours to give you a good introduction, but plenty of inspiration to explore and plan your steps to teaching in alternative settings.

f you can’t make it … no worries as it will be recorded and you will have access until 30 November. So you can watch it whenever it suits you.

  • What if I am not very tech-savvy?

We use Zoom for our live online workshops an online platform that’s very easy to access, and many people are already familiar with.

A week before your workshop starts we will send you the details of how to sign up for the workshop on Zoom.  If you do not receive this email then get in touch with us ASAP.

Our private online platform (where we will post the presentation + recording afterwards) is really easy to use too. You’ll only need basic computer literacy in order to navigate it.

  • I can’t make it on Weds 26 June in the morning. Is that a problem?

We recommend that you join our workshop live if at all possible, as we know that our students are more likely to get inspired, create plans or ask questions when they are live on the call with other creatives.

However, if you can’t make it live, then no worries! This session will be recorded and posted on our private workshop hub. You will have access to the recording + presentation until 30 November 2025.

  • I want to join with a friend. Can I share?

When you buy an online workshop from us then you purchase a single license, which means that you can NOT share the recording or presentation with others.

Like you, we are a small creative business, and this workshop is full of our copyrighted material and expertise that we have developed over many years of teaching both in person and online.

If you share with others who haven’t paid then you are basically stealing from us. We know you wouldn’t like it if others did the same to you. So THANK YOU for not sharing with others.

If we find out that you have shared we will remove you immediately from the course hub, and we might bar you from any future training too.

  • I have missed the live session! Can I still join?

We highly recommend that you try to sign up for this workshop and join us live.

However you can still sign up for this workshop until Friday 18 July. After that date this workshop will not be available for new students. All students will have access to the private hub with the workshop presentation + recording until 30 November 2025.

  • What if I need to cancel?

The workshop will take place on Wednesday 26 June from 10am – 12.30pm UK time, and we will record the session and give you access to the recording and the presentation till 30 November 2025.

After this workshop has taken place we will not offer any refunds as you can still access it whenever you like.

If you need to cancel before this workshop takes place (26 June) then please email us on info@thedesigntrust.co.uk for a full refund. Unfortunately it takes 5 – 10 working days for the money to be returned to your bank account.

  • I have another question …

If you have any other questions then please get in touch with us on info@thedesigntrust.co.uk. We are always happy to help.
